# the hobbit
on the spectrum - you needed to do that several times to get past the trolls (could be in hitchhikers as well I guess, apart from the trolls)

# ooh jolly good
I was looking for that just now but my bookmark has vanished.

In the Hobbit, the response was, "You wait, time passes".

# Its in all most all bloody text adventure games
It allows for the player to look around while letting a story continue...a time limit till a certian plot point... In HGG if you left the house early you had to wait for the space ship...

# ok (sigh)
1. it's spelt "almost"
2. anyone who's ever played The Hobbit will recognise this, it's one of the parts of the game that sticks in your mind (unlike the use of the "wait" command in other games)
3. the response to the command is "you wait, time passes", that was part of the question, not "can you tell me which game uses the 'wait' command" for fucks sake, I know they all bloody well do
4. you are an irritating smartarsed twunt, so fuck off and die
