i recently learnt 3DSpurely from the tutorials at spoono.com, i found that was a good starting point and then moved onto 3dcafe (3dcafe.com i think)

i export mine into 3ds or lightwave (depending on which machine i'm on)to prettify them... but then they're a fair bit more complex than the one above anyway
