# excellent
Did I get the apostrophe wrong on this?

Edit: Yeah - I wasn't so sure about it either.

Perhaps "Fat Ugly Girl" is her name - so then it is singular. - don't look up Fat Ugly Girl's skirt(s).
errr....

# yes
girls' skirt
(, Tue 18 May 2004, 16:26, archived)
# If you meant
girls in the plural, and I think you did, then yes, it should have been girls'.

Edit: Having said that, it occurs to me that this is a mistake often made by chemists, in which case your reproduction of said mistake was a stroke of genius. Ok?
(, Tue 18 May 2004, 16:26, archived)
# Nope
it's the skirt belonging to the girl, therefore it's 'the girl's skirt'.
EDIT: Oh yes, it's plural, so it should have been girls' skirt. Sorry.
(, Tue 18 May 2004, 16:26, archived)
# It depends on whether the girl(s) are singlular or plural
If there is only one girl and she owns her skirt, then you are correct. If the suggestion is that you should stop taking pictures up lots of girls' skirts in general, then it is wrong.

I think you are right, as it is only a piece of humour, and aimed directly at the person holding the piccie.

Kerching, my tuppence worth...

# yes
it's "girl's skirt"; "girls' skirts"
(, Tue 18 May 2004, 16:37, archived)
# perhaps I would understand it better
if you were to illustrate the point using farmland animals and comic sans.
hehe
I think ALL edumication should be done using cartoons.

# hint
turn it around and the apostrophe goes at the end

i.e. skirts of ugly girls=ugly girls' skirts
i.e. skirts of the ugly girl=the ugly girl's skirts
