tj: errr, has anyone broken a rib before? What does it feel like, as I think I've cracked mine, but am too much of scaredy cat to go to the hospital.

If you twist round and feel like you are about to die, you have broken it. It should swell a bit and you will look slightly wrong in the chest area.

you are probably okay. Take Ibuprofen and put ice on it. They heal on their own if it's just cracked, it's when you've broken it that you're fuckered.

I'm still recovering from breaking mine. Unless you're having big trouble breathing there's no point going to hospital anyway. I fully brokified mine, and they just handed me some ibuprofen. They can't do anything about it. You just have to wait for it to get better*
