i like other stuff better but still like their music.
i think now they're appreciated it's become cool to say 'they're crap' rather than quite good.

They've probably sold too many records to be a "real indie band". It tends to be the way among us music snobs. I unashamedly like them. I still like coldplay, always did. Who cares if the "mondeo man" likes them. Good for him. It's about time he got past David Gray.

as each person has different tastes but good for you to stick to what you like and not listen to hype or other crap,
