1) create database
2) create form
3) create site layout
4) fill with bullshit that no one else but yourself will ever read

I don't like blogs, even the name winds me up

Blogs are good. They just suffer from a poor wheat/chaff ratio. It's good for learning all kinds of webby and writing skills too. And quite a few blogs have a decent audience. Time for a wee personal blog spam I think.
