I seek out nice abstract-looking quicktime movies,
turn them into loops, and distort and filter all the frames. Sometimes with a progressive variation in the distortion which also loops.
This one is pretty simple:
I just twirled all the frames.

In imageready, yes.
Using ctrl-f to repeat the distortion filter, and with the layers palette set to "no thumbnails" so I can click through all the layers as fast as possible and distort them all. I wish there was some way to apply a filter to all layers at once, but I know of no such way (maybe more recent versions have got that).

can't you use macros?
I use them on many layers in PS.

Hmm?
Do you mean actions?
I don't know how to make an action work on multiple layers, unless they are specific layers, in which case I still have to click on each layer in order to put it into the action. I wish I could write a little program that says "select next layer, filter, repeat" but that doesn't seem to be possible.
