I have a friend who does work for themand if they have detected that you own a tv but your name isn't on the register he will make a visit and will earn £30 (i think) for ever license bought on the doorstep and he won't take any bullshit either.

I have neverbought a TV license.
TV works fine without one.
Last time I was visited by an inspector blokey was about six years ago.
I pointed out that it is not an offence to not have a TV licence and he should go forth and multiply.
Went back indoors and discovered I'd missed an important bit of Eastenders.

The assumption being made is that if you do not have a licence you are commiting a criminal act, whereas there are perfectly legitamate reasons for not having a licence.
