has anyone ever converted .mov to .avi?
I'm trying to convert a 10Mb .mov to .avi, so far it's taken over an hour and the .avi is now 650Mb and getting bigger!

How big was the .mov and are you adding compression to the avi ?

capture just frames, use the camtasia suite by adobe, I have it. If you'd like it, I can stick it up on my site for you to get at quickly..... do you have kazaa lite?

software does avi->mpg converts, and many grab frames from avi for you to do with what you will. I've never got on with avi as a file format tho.

and what is your end result for? you can output to avi from Premiere, although avid xpress does a slightly better job. It seems to me that you may not be using the right compression codec, choose divx fast motion as a rule.

# You are probably creating
an uncompressed AVI. Which can be a good thing.

It's not if you have a small harddisk.

Cinepak, and the Intel Indeo are the compression techiques I find best.
