IIS is Internet Information Server, a web server that MS gives away with the OS
- have a squizz under add programs -> windows components, and it supports ASP out of the box CD
'too many users' is the typical error people get with MS servers as the admin can put a cap on the maximum number of requests so that the server doesn`t fall over; also if you don`t pay for a big licence, IIS is locked down to a max 25 (or something - can`t remember) simultaneous users - anything posted on b3ta would lock that up in seconds!
you can get add-ons to allow you to run PHP on IIS too, if that`s your bent (PFFFFT.. bent) although PHP and Apache are kissy snoggy bed fellows

Oh right I see
so you can be your own Internet Server running off your computer, rather than relying upon your ISP running the code for you, is that right?
But is there a danger of people having access to your computer directly?

yip, I run my web site from the bedroom
as for security, yep you`re right.. you have to have a good (not adequate) firewall, and a stable operating system / web server that you keep patched to the hilt!

You seem to be a right brainbox about coding and stuff
can you recommend a good quality PHP thumbnail gallery code that uses files to access the image/thumb locations rather than from a MySQL Database. I did have a working code for my php thumbnail gallery but I lost it when ny comp crashed and I can't remember how to re-code it see here for broken version It loads six rows of six thumbs using a file with the url of each thumbnail. Each thumb has the url to the actual image located in a second file, when you click either next or previous it loads the next load of urls stored in an array. Please help me if you can.
