I don't know much about gdlibI created the thumbnails in Photoshop as some of the images are gifs and would probably not be suitable for gdlib?

who hosts your server?gdlib gives you access to lots of image functions like image resizing (to create thumbnails) and allocating colours (used that to generate greyscale thumbs for the photos and also to give the photos a background colour to fill the square)
