
Hamburgers were originally called 'hamburg steaks'.
During WW1 they renamed them to 'beefburgers' as the food had a German name in it. [Likewise, a 'Frankfurter' became a 'hotdog']
After relations with Germany normalised people used the two terms interchangeably.
A Hamburger and Beefburger are the same thing.
