when you're on a board where users often have bandwidth limits you'll get a lot of complaints about an image that's four times bigger than it needs to be

and PNG isn't a vector format, it's a bitmap format, same as JPEG, GIF, BMP, TIF and all the rest. you're also horribly wrong about the screenshot thing too, but never mind

open up that copy of CS2 and have a play saving things at different JPEG quality settings, you'll be amazed

i'm trying not to be mean, i really am. i was a noob not so long ago, hehe

i'm a web monkey by trade though and know tons about this crap - even how the algorithms behind JPEG and GIF compression work, although christ knows why

Anywho, said image is now 7008 bytes. I've tweaked my auto-thumbnail script, hopefully it should generate sub-50kb thumbs.
