but compared to most workplaces I have an awful lot of freedom. It only raises eyebrows when the total cost gets over a certain amount..
and my traffic lately has, naturally, been obscene.
I'm just glad they're not asking about specific content, 'cos then I'd really be up against it!
This month I will mostly be browsing with images, sound, and video files turned off. : )
edit: no, not particularly scary. Relatively, I get away with blue murder.

on bandwidth.
I've got a friend who's trying to get into downloading TV shows via bittorrents. He gets 10gb/mo u/d max, then has to start paying through the nose.
That'd last me about 3 days.

Bandwidth is so cheap! Ick, ick, ick!
I'm in America, and my cable provider (Time Warner) gives me a 5 Mb download rate with no fees on usage. I realize it may be different elsewhere, but the bandwidth thing seems a bit extreme.

I've got (in theory) infinite traffic - and I give that a run for it's money every month :)
New Zealand is *really* archaic on that though. I've been told it's due to the telecom monopoly down there.

That's what we get for privatising the infrastructure in the '80s, and allowing a corporate monopoly in.
I was just looking for a relevant article, since they may be dragged through the courts.
Basically, broadband over here, isn't.
However, I'm hooked into the national backbone here at work, ho ho!
This is probably the main reason I don't have a home PC, since the World Wide Wait would be frustrating as all get out.

fees on bandwith useage?
never heard of it before
we just pay our monthly cost and they leave us to use our 8mb as we damn well please...

I had a phone call from the IT manager (quite a senior guy) the other day, asking me how I'd managed to go to over 700 blocked sites in the last month.
I told him (in so many words) it was because I had nothing better to do and needed to sit at my desk to keep an eye on everyone.
Long story short, I'm looking at a promotion now. Office space taught me everything I know.
