# sage advice at the best of times
from what i hear ;)

# It's really a lovely place
as long as you avoid the b3tans. Then again, that's sound advice for pretty much anywhere
(, Thu 9 Mar 2006, 3:13, archived)
# lolz!
(, Thu 9 Mar 2006, 3:14, archived)
# so in other words, you're the only person in massachusetts to avoid?
:-P

# And I'm an idiot
and sosumi
and ZugZwang

and... um... others
(, Thu 9 Mar 2006, 3:17, archived)
# uh oh
i imagine one day i'll be in massachusetts and the real sosumi will spot me in a crowd, jumpkick me in the spine and start yelling obscenities at me

"YOU FUCKING CUNT! REPOST THIS! GNAHHHH!"

no, i'm sure she's actually a lovely lady.

# I kind of want to witness two b3tans meet randomly in public
and sort of recognize eachother but not really, so they try to hint at it but not flat out ask if the other is a b3tan, so they do things that'll hint at their alternate persona, like slip in a "woo yay" or say something in Leningrad speak just to see the reaction
(, Thu 9 Mar 2006, 3:26, archived)
# i keep catching myself doing leningrad speak in person, without realizing it
like "silly katie, plate is not food!" and then i get weird stares from katie.

# hahahaha
I do the same thing :(
(, Thu 9 Mar 2006, 3:43, archived)
# Likewise.

Whenever I say, "that's a neato what now right?", people look at me like I'm tripping.

# i've been wanting to write about b3ta for a long time
just write about it, b3tan society, just for personal laughs, but i find myself completely unable to do so; i don't know where to start, for one thing.

then i have to remind myself that it's roughly equivalent to writing about all the in-jokes in high school; not really that amusing unless you were there.

# I looked through the characteristics of a cult today with Mr. Horrible
during a discussion about b3ta and was slightly amused
* A powerful leader; Rob, for the most part

* Revealed scriptures or doctrine; FAQ

* Deceptive recruitment; Taggage on viral images

* Totalitarianism and alienation of members from their families and/or friends; first of all it's the internet, also, bashes

* The use of indoctrination, by sophisticated mind-control techniques, based on the concept that once you can make a person behave the way you want, then you can make him/her believe what you want; n00b tuesday

* Slave labour - that is, the use of members on fundraising or missionary activities for little or no pay to line the leader's pockets; ... this one we didn't come up with anything
Edit: making/finding things for the newsletter, ta Muu

* Misuse of funds and the accumulation of wealth for personal or political purposes at the expense of members; I paid for a donation icon...

* Exclusivity - "we are right and everyone else is wrong". well, we are.
