though yes, i agree with "repeated teaching". and i think that there are plenty of things we're repeatedly taught which cause it.

and I simply can't agree with rules handed to me by other people that can't be rationalised in part or in full. I'd rather try and work on such important issues myself than take someone else's word for it.

however, if you tried to justify everything from first principles you'd have a terribly slow and laborious life. you take your arbitrary rules from many sources, and wrap a layer of explanation around them. and i'm going to the car boot sale. turrah!
