yeah, but
how much more does a top-end PC cost compared to a console?
wait, I like PC gaming...
Obviously they are more versatile, useful and generally better, and there are very few good FPS's on consoles compared to PC, writing to B3ta with a SNES is a pain in the bum and there's no PlayStation World Of Warcraft.

As I already had a decent PC and just had to buy a half decent gfx card it didn't cost too much

I need
a new motherboard/processor and RAM.
looking for something relatively inexpensive yet gaming friendly with at least 2 gig, to replace my AthlonXP 2700 with 768mb RAM, which is beginning to feel coal powered.
Anyone know anywhere reliable doing good deals / just cheap so I can get the bits?
I already have the thermal transfer paste, so I'm halfway there.
currently I'm thinking of using

"very few good FPS's"
how many do you want?
how many times do you want to play the same game with different visuals?
Halo, HL2, Battlefield, all on the consoles
i know mouse control is superior to the joypads
but then again it's unrealistically superior
plus it's easier to hack and cheat on PC shooters
and that's what really gets my goat, i used to love a
bit of Day of Defeat, but the cheats ruined it

ah, sorry, should have said
I have "Spacky thumbs", therefore even games like goldeneye, a classic FPS of woo-ness, I am crap at and don't improve with practice.
It doesn't help that a friend of mine has anti-spack thumbs and once beat me and two other experienced players at a halo game (i.e. teams were 3 vs 1) without dying once. worst thing was it was capture the flag, and he did.
