all the damage i've seen is caused by stupid people letting go of the remote. wrist strap or not, if it doesn't leave your hand it's not going to damage anything. unless you hit something with your fist.
though in all the damage i've seen, the remote has always stayed remarkably intact. if it's more durable than a 42" telly they must be doing something right!
