# 'kin hell!
500kb?!
that's rediculous, even by my standards!

it's nice, but still, it's a bit big.

# Any tips?
Sorry, this is maybe my third animation and I'm still getting the hang of it.

How can I slim it down? The larger version was over 1.5MB!

# first thing
is just make it smaller, it's always the easiest thing. Next one is to reduce the number of colours in it.

I'm sorry, i'm just very shit at explaining stuff, i'm sure there's people here who could do a better job than me.

# i just had a poke about
with it in image ready, and here's what i would do.

Firstly i'd resize the canvas to be 240 wide.
Then i'd resize the image to be 180 wide (with the resized canvas it should be 90 high).
Then in the optimisations, set it to 32 colours, and no dithering.
That should bring it down to about 100kb

Here's a linky to it, so you can see what the quality looks like on it. If you did this, i'd recommend resizing the kittens a bit

# hmm
Okay, I finally figured out where the optimization color settings are; you mean to resize the canvas, and not just resize the image, correct?

Sorry, I have a lot to learn.

# i mean do both
resize the canvas width first, because not much happens at the edges of the image, so it's just useless file size.
So first, resize the canvas and chop a bit of the sides, down to about 240 wide from the one you posted there.

Then resize the entire image smaller, to about 120 wide. That's what i did anyway, and it still looks alright to me.

Then after dropping the colours to 32, and removing dithering, you get a file about 1/4 of the original you posted.

# Almost got it..
But I can't get the filesize below the mid 200K's at the 180 width; I think my optimization color settings are being ignored, because it's still smoother textures than your example.

Should basically just have to set the color optimization in the prefs, right? I don't get a dialog box for it when I 'Save Optimized As'..

# Ha Ha!
Got it! Didn't know there was an optimization palette. :Q

# I've got it down to 280k
just by chopping it down to less colours (in Animation shop) (you want me to send it to you?)

# Less colors
No need, but I appreciate it! It's bothering me that I can't do this.

# Wont...
...it be better compressed if you used FLASH?

# Probably
But I don't have the tools. :(
