isn't there
a tool you can use that puts a keyboard up on your screen? it would be clumsy, but better than nothing until you get a new one
(edit) i don't know about 98 but XP has one in it's accessibility tools

made by a company called Macrohard (well someone was gonna use the name, weren't they?
Dead slow for actual data entry or typing on messageboards, but capable enough.
