first - if you have a cd-writerstart backing-up your stuff. It sounds like something is seriously unhappy, possibly hardware (do you get a DOS message saying keyboard failure?).
Have you tried a different keyboard in the machine?
The renaming crash might be unconnected, and sounds like a screwed windows registry or something (hence back-up and maybe reinstall operating system).
Get a second opinion though!
