I always draw outlines on a blank layer then you can move blocks

of colour forward and backwards :)

Thanks for the tip :) I shall start using that. I like the colouring bit, but as a hangover from my nursery days I still have colouring within the lines issues.

put the lines on top

in multiply then you can colour into the lines without it showing through.
