Many people consider much of my reading material quite highbrow and inaccessible yet even I love to have a spot of escapism with Pratchett now and again. It allows for you to be a schoolboy again without any of the embarrassment.
Some people think Stephen King is a literary genius. I happen to think he's a one trick pony who has no idea how to end a story. Personal tastes may vary.

i liked the kubrick version of the shining infinitly better than the stephen king version, and if the movie is better than the book it means something right?
