to realise that toap stands for text on a picture

I've got an avi file and I want to take a 40-50 second segment of it and upload it to youtube or somesuch thing. How do I best go about doing this?

Uh, There's good free image editing software but I can't actually remember what its called

We used to used it back yonder to make ~~n00b~~ skill videos for counterstrike.
Anybody know what I'm on about?

Try Windows Movie Maker

If it's installed - it works for me on Vista. Otherwise there's plenty of crapware on google.
