My mate's a really good tech head, and had to sort out my machine the other day.

Norton AV had expired, and I had told it I didn't want to renew, so it was trying absolutely to take my machine down with it.

what does it actually do to your computer once you say no? I had no end of trouble with norton. My computer was bluescreening every day.
