Just built a dual core AMD 3800+ and a DC 4200+ and still not spent half of what I spent building my first Pentium 2 350 in 1997.

At the moment I'm looking at an Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 with minimum of 2gb ram - as for mainboard not a clue. If I knew what I was doing I'd be fucking dangerous. :P

Nothing wrong with an intel core duo but unless you can afford the best you will get more bang for your buck with an AMD and that way you can spend more money on a shithot PCIe GPU.
I'll catch hold of you later. Work out an absolute budget ( and what you require less the bits you are keeping, drives etc. ) and I'll tell you exactly what I would spend the cash on if it were for me.
