indeedthe ones in the local sea life centre where my ex worked were browny green - one has a snake like head - I named him "retardo"

Was that the Weymouth one?I was a bit disappointed that their turtle centre was just a home for unwanted terrapins.
Brighton has some biggies. They don't let you jump in for a swim with them though. :-(
