I may do that down the pubace pic, basically anyone who comments like the pic so if they dont heap praise on you directly, at least comments give you a warm fuzzy glow inside.

I normally work on an image at a decent size (No more than about 500px wide though)Then I reduce the size accordingly when I'm done, or at least nearly finished with it.
Don't worry about getting attention, people see what they want to see, B3tans don't pass up a quality picture often =]
