the new mythbusters with the lady and two random blokes? or proper mythbusters??
but not watched it for a couple of years either way as i don't have discovery
what did they come up with? from the tone of the doc the official enquiry couldn't come up with a rock solid answer (as i said, i missed the end)

the closest they could figure is that the stuff they'd coated the outer skin with was highly flammable and, combined with the gas inside, all it would have taken was a tiny spark. the experiments were awesome!

would've been a surprise it didn't happen before, but it's always going to be open to speculation.
from the doc it looks like one of the canvas panels broke free for some reason, but that's from one of the ground crew's testimony (no one else saw it) and the tv cameras didn't catch it on the day.
i suppose it's easiest to blame the nazis as the designer didn't like em either
