look for the latency settings under 'preferences'
maybe choosing another sound driver there will also produce better results (use an ASIO driver if there is one)

I changed the driver to the one I usually use. I've not had it running for ages and it had reverted to the shitty one.
Now to make some terrible noises!

If I'm using Reason I like to run it through Logic atferwards as its GM is better.

Logic gives me the horn but I need to get a decent soundcard and some monitors first.
Any recommendations for a soundcard? I'll need to try the monitors out for myself.

You can pick up a pretty cheap second hand M Box these days

They can be either firewire or USB.
It's pretty much down to the cabling.
