# The writers were just copying what the sounds engineers had done years back

I think it'll only be funny to audio geeks:D

Prize to anyone who can get all four.

EDIT: *glees* I can imagine everyone going 'What the fuck is he on about?!'

# Yay. I get all 4.
But I can't get Reason to work properly. It keeps skipping.

GM=General midi. a440 is A4 (above middle C). Unity is 0dB between input and output and the last one is a compression technique)

# did you try increasing the buffer size/latency?

(, Sat 26 Jan 2008, 16:22, archived)
# I have not. I'll try it. It's only got two Maelstroms and a redrum going.
I think I'll just reboot.
(, Sat 26 Jan 2008, 16:23, archived)
# look for the latency settings under 'preferences'
maybe choosing another sound driver there will also produce better results (use an ASIO driver if there is one)
(, Sat 26 Jan 2008, 16:25, archived)
# Thanks.
I changed the driver to the one I usually use. I've not had it running for ages and it had reverted to the shitty one.

Now to make some terrible noises!

# I have to admit
If I'm using Reason I like to run it through Logic atferwards as its GM is better.

# Logic gives me the horn but I need to get a decent soundcard and some monitors first.
Any recommendations for a soundcard? I'll need to try the monitors out for myself.

Will let you use Pro Tools LE as well.

# Last question then. I looked at them a while ago but they run on firewire don't they?
I'm still on W2K on this box and I'm not sure it'll do it properly. I'll have a look. Thanks.
(, Sat 26 Jan 2008, 16:55, archived)
# They can be either firewire or USB.
It's pretty much down to the cabling.

# OK
GM - General MIDI
A440 is the standard grouping or tuning in an orchestra (A = middle A on a standard piano and 440 = 440Hz the frequency of middle A).
Unity - The standard position of a fader on a mixing desk.
Subways - A shop that sells sandwiches made from manky bread.
Hard Knee Opprossion - Pun on the term Hard Knee COmpression.

Happy now?:P
