it's a good 50 years starting with marx's original theories and ending with the start of the downfall of the USSR.

but it's still fictional. as i said up there ^^^^ somewhere, it's a fantastic political analogy, but it is (deliberately) far from the facts.
if it wasn't it wouldn't have stood the test of time. I first read it when i was about 8, and obviously didn't get any of the political references. also, if it was the full story of the revolution it'd be dull. as apart from the major events (which are all referenced) it was (as most revs are) quite dull
