Depending on what OS you're on...... find servces and turn off the messenger service. Only have XP to hand, Control Panel->Admin Tools-> Component Services... etc...
Turn that fucker OFF. If you don't know what it is, you don't need it (it has nothing to do with windows messenger or anything of that ilk).
