maybe you can output actual hd with some fancy graphics card twiddling but your generic tv out is crap (tho svideo is marginally less crap than composite)
edit: if you don't got hd type telly, you can maybe convince your video card to output something ntsc/pal style with rgb, but this may require some farting about, just buy an expensive large flat screen monitor for a bargain price of £800 or something and use the pc input :)

it's some kind of weak throwback to THE SHITTING FEAR american companies have to putting fucking rgb out on domestic tv equipmentand lack of macrovision style horror therein
yay! to people paying £2000 for lcd panels and having them go blank during movie playback because they had the audacity to steal a monitor, computer and dvd (steal as in paying money for them at retail and expecting them to work)
