There's a great programme I use called FreeRam
cost nothing and just sits on your desktop and frees up ram when you ask it to.

i think i've run that before, didn't really understand it so lobbed it out again, the odd break up isn't really that much of an issue, i was just wondering really if i just needed to fiddle with something to fix it, but it's pretty much as i thought, my little machine hasn't quite got the poke it needs, much like me really but that's another story.
