# My mum put these on my 8th birthday cake
I nearly passed out when I tried blowing them out time after time!

on a 44th birthday cake for a guy at work.

Nearly burnt the place down.

Had to use a wet tea towel to put them out, and they had all melted onto the icing.

Ruined a perfectly good cake, they did.

# My mum doesn't put candles on cakes
She wraps up a potato (or two - depending on how many candles there are) in foil, sticks the tatty on a plate and puts the candles in the tatties.

It's very bizarre but there has never been an occasion where we cannot eat cake because of candle related accidents.

I love my mum!

you were lucky. In my day we had to fashion a candle out of ear wax and pubic hair and stick it in a crust of stale bread.
