Though I agree with her really.
There's no way of expanding on what the characters are without just ripping off what she's already written or making shit up.
If it wasn't a thesaurus of harry potter and was a story behind how she got the ideas for each animal or whatever they'd get away with it.

In all fairness though,
J K Rowling has admitted herself that she used the website to check up on the facts of her own novels at times.
This does become a much bigger case when you consider the implications of putting a website, and its content, into print....
