# i hate the way you can see it from the south bank
it ruins the skyline of london

# Are you serious?
I think that it is a quite amazing building! And it is a hell of a lot better than 90% of most buildings in London!

# it just looks so out of place
london isn't the place for skyscraper style buildings, i reckon. especially since you can't really see poor St Pauls catherdral. it'd look nice in san francisco, i suppose

# I understand your point,
but it is a more striking building than the Empire State Building for example. Buildings in London dont seem to me to be tall as a point. They are attractive generally, as a point. If they happen to be tall, then so be it.

But look at Canary Wharf? Probably the least interesting building ever built. And why? To be tall. And why squared? Because it was built by Americans. You can not claim that The Gherkin is as bad as a building that is simply tall!

# oh aye the canary wharf is horrible
but when i get off the train i like to wander around southbank for a bit and it and one or two other tower blocks really spoil the view of the north bank. my favourite sky scraper is the chrysler building

# I myself disagree with you.
I love wandering around the South Bank around The Globe and Borough, and I love the dichotomy between the old and new.
