I did this once.You can just display the slides on a screen and takes a digital picture of the screen.
You may need to change some settings on your camera to get the photos right, but after some trial and error I got useable results. They got very useable after some 'shopping.
Also, be sure to set up your camera on a tripod front and center of the screen. Then you don't have to 'shop too much to make your pics look okay.
