Anyway, that's not how you're supposed to colour. There's PS tricks, which I can't use, as I'm a CPSP person. I just deleted all the white and promoted the layer over a background.

first you have to add a transpartent layer (Layer:Transparency:Add Alpha Channel). Then you can select the color you want to be transparent. Go to Layer:Transparency:Color To Alpha and select the color.
