Well I'd say a defintion by the cambridge dictionary, I could scan in an actual page from an Oxford concise if I could be bothered, is as watertight as watertight can be in language.And anyone who disagrees with a University which spends its time researching the etymology and usage of modern and historic English is obviously an idiot.

I do my best not to want to kill people on the subject of prescriptive and descriptive language.Although ultimately most Americans could do with being beaten round the face with all 24 volumes of the OED.
