Got one in the PC,
but wanted to be able to stream the video while the PC could still be used, so windows media encoder just runs minimised and streams the input from the tv card. works fine!

share the DVD drive and decode it on the lappy.
Best quality and you will only be using the wifi & DVD drive. no encoding & v little CPU usage.
That'll be best really - as you can control it completly from the Lappy.

Wouldn't get Telewest broadcast that way though
so it'd still need to be plumbed in this way.

true - but you swap to the encoder for telewest
when you need it (remode control the pc from the lappy)..
best all round - the hookup is the same though.
