# can't a homeless person have a neighbour?
next door = next to the door..

# I suppose
If said homeless person is lurking around someone's door themself (perhaps stalking said ex-wife?).

I'm not sure a cardboard box can have a "door" in the true sense of the word. Depends how artistic the occupant.
If they're ambitious enough, I guess they could even have extenions. after all, isn't that's what shoeboxes are for?

# no.
