oh no i love these odd little quirks for the most part.but inverting borrowed and lend just seem a tad odd to me

It seems odd because it's technically wrong - it conflicts with how you learned the language.But before long "wrong" words end up more prevalent than "right" words, and people who condemn others for doing it wrong are little more than old men waving sticks around and gibbering about the decline of language.
