What I can say though is that according to the EXIF data, the pic was taken in 2007 with an Olympus S300D :)

The one I've seen had a little button next the power and screen settings which just flipped the image instantly.

I've also seen ones that are smart enough that you just twist and the hinge detects the twist and takes care of it all.
