I think both are right

this has always confused me as my english teacher used to say Pathos and my classics teacher said Bathos.

They're both words, if that's what you mean.

They have different meanings though.
There really ought to be some sort of 'looking-stuff-up' device to help with this kind of thing.

Maybe I should have looked up Pathos

before my English exam.
Might have aced Classics though.
