I believe the situation was a little more complicatedI believe the South Ossetians want their sovereinty and kind of had it until the current government tried to take it back by force.
Granted, Russia is making it about the US and NATO and punishing Georgia and maybe even fucking with their oil pipeline and ports so Western businesses will have to use the state owned Russian oil infrastructure.
I really wish we could just blame George Bush and ask Putin to wait till our election is over before he freaks the fuck out. Some of this does seem like it's a reaction to Georgie straddling his continent with a pistol cello taped to his twiching erection.
