yes, the cut scenes are long, but so are the gameplay sequences.

It's not that they're long,
it's that they're so frequent, especially early in the game.
I got fed up watching my flatmate play it, and it takes a LOT for me to get fed up enough to go and do something else.
It may improve later on I guess, but it lost me.

I've just treated those bits as a film
but I always give the control pad to the wife so he can button mash for the flashbacks while I skin up.
