T'is weird.... Gifs seem to be good for line arty type vector stuff
and jpgs seem to come out small for really colourful painted stuff like yours.
End of the day, you are right, it's what you are happy with, but give it a try, you wont get the sort of diffuse banding effect in the colours with Jpgs, (but the text might suffer a bit, so easy come easy go)

I think it's because .gif is good with solid blocks of colour
and .jpg is good for photos (which anything detailed is closer to)

I'll concede you point there....
The optimizatron has given me better output and smaller filesize compared to the dirty gif.
I'll leave this one as is, but I'll keep it in mind.
