blame a cold shower.i don't eat a lot of packaged foods, but i see your point. even things like crackers and biscuits creep up in price while the contents slowly reduce in size.
if i want cheap, crappy candy, i'll buy it in the next few days as the leftover hallowe'en junk gets booted to the sale wall to make room for the crappy xmas candy.
